How Long Do Sex Dolls Last? Lifespan by Material, With Real Numbers

A full-silicone doll that's cleaned and stored properly lasts eight to ten years. TPE manages two to five, depending almost entirely on how disciplined the owner is. Spread over its life, even a £2,000 silicone doll costs less per year than a modest streaming bundle — the material choice is what decides whether that maths holds.
What actually wears out first?
Not what you'd guess. In rough order of appearance: wig tangling (cosmetic, replaceable), finger wire poke-through on older-style skeletons, skin staining from dark clothing, joint loosening at the hips, and finally — usually years in — tearing at high-stress creases. The internal skeleton itself basically never fails; it'll outlive two bodies.
Articulated-finger skeletons like those on SE Doll's Samantha largely solve the finger problem, which used to be the number one TPE complaint.
How do silicone and TPE age differently?
Silicone is non-porous, tolerates heat, shrugs off most stains and never needs powdering. TPE is softer out of the box but porous — it absorbs moisture and oils, needs powdering monthly, and develops flat spots if left in one position. Our 10-minute care routine covers both, but the honest summary: TPE forgives nothing, silicone forgives almost everything.
| Full silicone | TPE / hybrid | |
| Realistic lifespan | 8–10 years | 2–5 years |
| Monthly care time | ~15 min | ~45 min |
| Stain resistance | High | Low — dye transfer is common |
| Repairs | Brand kits, some pro-only | Mostly DIY (heat or TPE glue) |
Which repairs can you do yourself?
TPE nicks close up with careful heat from a hot spoon or a dab of TPE glue — ten-minute jobs. Silicone tears need the brand's own repair kit and a steady hand. Loose joints are a bolt-tightening exercise using the manual (keep the manual). Anything structural, ask us first; all four of our brands supply spare parts, including full replacement heads via the accessories range.
Is the longer silicone lifespan worth the price gap?
Usually, yes. A £1,349 silicone doll like Heloise lasting eight years costs about £14 a month; a £1,299 hybrid lasting three costs £36. The hybrid still wins if budget now is the constraint — but if you're keeping her, silicone is the cheaper doll wearing a more expensive price tag.
