Cock Ring Size Guide: Get the Fit Right First Time

Cock Ring Size Guide: Get the Fit Right First Time

A cock ring works when it's 10–15% smaller than your erect girth — snug enough to slow blood leaving, never so tight it pinches or numbs. Most men skip the measuring step, buy blind, and end up with a drawer of rings that don't do anything. Two minutes with a fabric tape fixes that.

How do you measure for a cock ring?

Measure erect girth at the base with a fabric tape measure (or wrap string and measure the string). Divide by 3.14 to get your diameter. A ring's listed diameter should come out around 85–90% of yours.

11.5–12.5 cm3.7–4.0 cm3.2–3.6 cm

Stretchy silicone forgives a lot — a 3cm stretch ring genuinely covers most of the middle of that table. Rigid steel forgives nothing, which is why we don't recommend metal as a first ring at all.

Where should the ring sit?

Two positions, different effects. Around the shaft base only: easier on, easier off, moderate effect. Behind the testicles as well (shaft-and-balls): stronger effect, longer-lasting erections, and it's what most experienced wearers settle on. Put stretchy rings on flaccid or semi-erect; you'll fight a losing battle otherwise.

Which ring should a beginner actually buy?

A stretchy vibrating silicone ring, one size, under £50. The Hot Octopuss ATOM is the one we point first-timers to — a proper rechargeable motor rather than a throwaway bullet, and stretch that fits practically everyone. If you're buying for couples' play where she gets the vibration too, the LELO TOR 2 is the luxury version of the same idea and quiet enough not to announce itself.

When should you take it off?

At 20–30 minutes, or immediately at any numbness, coldness or colour change — whichever comes first. That's not a suggestion; trapped blood doesn't negotiate. And skip rings entirely if you take blood thinners or have a clotting condition, no exceptions worth making.

Sizes and stretch specs are on every listing in our cock ring collection. Measure first. Your drawer will thank you.
