TPE vs Silicone Sex Dolls: Which Should You Buy in 2026?

The TPE-versus-silicone question is the first one every doll buyer faces, and most guides online are written to push whatever the shop stocks. We sell both, so here's the honest version.
Feel
TPE is softer out of the box — it has a squish and jiggle that entry-level silicone can't match. But modern dual-hardness silicone (Starpery's speciality) has closed the gap: firm where a body is firm, soft where it's soft. Top-end silicone now feels more realistic than TPE, not less.
Detail and durability
Silicone wins on both. It holds sculpted detail — pores, veining, texture pressing — that TPE simply can't, it tolerates heat better, doesn't stain as easily, and is fully sealable against moisture. A silicone doll cared for properly lasts many years; TPE needs more regular maintenance (powdering, prompt cleaning) to stay in shape.
Weight and price
TPE is lighter and much cheaper. A 161cm hybrid like Funwest's Sheila costs £1,299; a comparable full-silicone doll runs £1,700–£2,300. The hybrid route — TPE body with silicone head — gets you silicone-level face realism at a TPE price, which is why it's our most recommended first doll.
Our recommendation
First doll on a budget: hybrid TPE. Long-term keeper: full silicone. If you want the single most realistic object money can buy: dual-hardness silicone with gel breasts and a movable jaw.
